Esta forma verbal se
utiliza para entregar ordenes, instrucciones, advertencias, consejos o
sugerencias.
Open the window. Abre la ventana.
Turn on the radio. Enciende la radio.

EXPRESIONES INDEFINIDAS
SOMEBODY – SOMEONE:
una persona no conocida o nombrada.
Somebody stole the car. Alguien robó el auto.
There’s somebody in the garden.
Hay alguien en el jardín.
SOMETHING: una cosa no
conocida o especificada.
I’ll tell you something. Te diré algo.
Would you like something to drink?
¿Quieres algo para beber?
SOMEWHERE: lugar no
conocido o no nombrado.
He’s looking for somewhere to live.
Está buscando algún lugar para vivir.
I’d like to go somewhere quiet for my holidays. Me
gustaría ir a algún lugar tranquilo para mis vacaciones.

ANYBODY – ANYONE: en
oraciones afirmativas se refiere a una persona o personas no importa quién o
quiénes, no se especifica. En oraciones interrogativas significa alguien. En
oraciones negativas significa nadie.
I don’t know anybody here. No conozco a nadie aquí.
Anyone can come to the party.
Cualquiera puede venir a la fiesta.
Did you meet anybody interesting?
¿Conociste
a alguien interesante?
ANYTHING: en oraciones
afirmativas se refiere a un evento, acto, objeto, etc., cualquiera sea éste. En
oraciones interrogativas significa alguna cosa y en las negativas significa
nada.
I can do anything. Puedo hacer cualquier
cosa.
You can eat anything you like.
Puedes comer cualquier cosa que quieras.
Did you buy anything? ¿Compraste algo?
He can’t remember anything. Él no puede recordar
nada.
She didn’t buy me anything for my birthday. No me
compró nada para mi cumpleaños.
ANYWHERE: en oraciones
afirmativas significa en un lugar o lugares no especificados, sin importar
cuál. En oraciones interrogativas significa algún lugar y en las negativas
significa ningún lugar.
I’ll follow you
anywhere. Te seguiré a cualquier parte.
I can’t find it anywhere. No puedo encontrarlo en ninguna parte.
Are you going anywhere on Friday?
¿Vas a algún lugar el viernes?
